Ever wanted to make your own almond butter, peanut butter or tahini? I did and I didn’t realise how easy it was!! Only one ingredient, 10 minutes and a food processor or blender is all you need for smooth, creamy, nutty goodness. .
Stats – cost entirely dependent on your choice of nuts, but it’ll be under $10. Takes under 10 minutes, makes 1.5 cups and is a source of protein, iron and calcium 👌💪 what a superfood 😂😍
3 cups raw, whole nuts of choice – I used brazil nuts
Optional: extras such as cocoa powder
Optional: before starting, toast nuts for 5 minutes in the oven at 180*C. This will give your butter a gorgeous depth of flavour and help to release the oils, quickening the process!
Place nuts in the bowl of a food processor and start the motor.
Phase 1 – the nuts will crumble.
Phase 2 – the crumbled nut pieces will start to stick together. During this stage, carefully scrape down any that gets stuck to the sides of the processor.
Phase 3 – the nuts will loosen into a creamy butter. Keep the processor running until it’s smooth, silky and almost liquid.
Done! Pop your finished nut butter into a clean and dry glass jar and store in a cool, dry and dark place. Natural separation of the oils may occur – this is okay, just stir it back together before spreading 😊
